Generally, amigurumis are not intended for children as they are not soft and huggable. I would not recommend handling by a child under the age of four and leave them as decorations in their room out of their reach. In addition, any item with safety eyes is to be avoided for those under four as they may be a choking hazard. I'd also recommend a light wash - submerging in water and light agitation - prior to giving to a child to remove any loose fibers.
